Course Overview

Completing Understanding Mental Health in Early Childhood will contribute 2hours 30 minutes of NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) Accredited PD in the priority area of Student/child mental health addressing standard descriptors 1.1.2 and 4.1.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.

Learn the different social and emotional stages of development in children from birth to 8 years of age

Discover how to identify potential risk factors and warning signs of mental health problems in children within an educational setting

Explore evidence-based interventions that have been proven to be effective in managing anxiety in children

Practice applying evidence-based strategies to assist in responding to the emotional needs of children in education settings

Reflect upon how they can utilise these new skills in their own teaching environments
