Understanding Anxiety 

in Early Childhood

Course Overview
​
Completing Understanding Mental Health in Early Childhood will contribute 2hours 30 minutes of NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) Accredited PD in the priority area of Student/child mental health addressing standard descriptors 1.1.2 and 4.1.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.

Together we will: â€‹

  • Learn the different social and emotional stages of development in children from birth to 8 years of age

  • Discover how to identify potential risk factors and warning signs of mental health problems in children within an educational setting

  • Explore evidence-based interventions that have been proven to be effective in managing anxiety in children

  • Practice applying evidence-based strategies to assist in responding to the emotional needs of children in education settings

  • Reflect upon how they can utilise these new skills in their own teaching environments
