Informed by an experienced group of pharmacy professionals across Australia, this course teaches pharmacists and pharmacy staff how to assist a patients who is developing a mental health problem or in a mental health crisis.

Powerful learning with a perfect mix of practical strategies and theory

As many pharmacies find it difficult to release staff to attend a standard 12-hour mental health course, the Blended MHFA for Pharmacy training is a uniquely designed course. As the name suggests, participants complete the course in a blended format, combining eLearning plus a follow-up half day face-to-face session. Once both components of the training are completed participants are eligible to receive their Mental Health First Aider Certificate of Accreditation which is valid for three years.

What is this course about and what topics do we cover?

The participants are required to complete the interactive self-paced eLearning component that presents an overview of mental health problems, crises, and illnesses. The content is tailored towards the modern pharmacists and makes use of studies, videos, and interactive resources tailored to the learning needs of the workforce.

The e-learning component will take almost 6-8 hours to complete and covers:

  • ​A 186 page 4th edition Standard MHFA manual and eLearning digital access code (priced at AUD 150 plus shipping purchased directly from

  • Bulk purchase discounts on a sliding scale available for organisations

  • Self-paced online via the MHFA Australia's Moodle Learning Management System

  • Audio, video, case scenarios, and short multiple choice quizzes to keep you engaged and informed

  • Unique online, email and telephone technical support

Following on form the eLearning component is the invaluable face-to-face training.

BLLC is different as our participants don’t simply revise and consolidate the eLearning content, but we extend participant learning and knowledge. Our educational expertise and ability to provide significant learning and development opportunities see us teaching face to face session that extend far beyond the required 4 hours at our clients request.


Developing mental health problems covered:

  • Depression

  • Anxiety problems

  • Psychosis

Mental health crises covered:

  • Suicidal thoughts and behaviors

  • Non-suicidal self-injury issues

  • Panic attacks

  • Traumatic events

  • Psychotic states

Do I get CPD points for my attendance?

Absolutely! Australian Pharmacy Council. Blended MHFA in the Pharmacy is endorsed until 01/10/2019. Accreditation number CX150035. Number and type of credits allocated are: 24 Group 2

How do I enroll?

Enrolling in this unique blended course is a two-step process:

  • Step 1- Enrol on the MHFA Australia website to receive a voucher code. These can be distributed to your staff and allow to create a log in and access the eLearning component. Any pharmacy staff member can attend this training.

  • Step 2- Attend a follow-up face-to-face session with BLLC to complete your training and immediately receive your certification. You do not need to have completed the eLearning before booking the F2F session but it MUST be completed prior to attending the F2F session.

What is the precise cost for the course?

The cost is $150 to complete the eLearning component. This is usually paid directly to MHFA Australia when the participant registers and completes the eLearning component of the course.

BLLC hold open public courses through the Pharmacy Guild of Australia (NSW Branch), where the cost is set by The Guild to members. Please contact them should you be a member for booking enquiries. 

Private bookings can be made through BLLC for groups (min 6 participants) at a rate of $110 + GST pp. Simply contact us to discuss your needs.
